Jeffrey Sheehan has spent nearly two decades in the territory where the physical and the nonphysical meet. He is interested in what the body is actually saying — underneath the diagnosis, underneath the complaint, underneath the story a person has been telling about their pain. He works with people navigating thresholds — the physical ones that show up as pain, tension, and restriction, and the less visible ones: the passages, the losses, the transitions that the body registers long before the mind catches up. That inquiry has taken him into the shamanic and alchemical traditions of classical medicine, into the study of Taoist death medicine, and back again — to muscle, fascia, the precise grammar of where a body holds and why it cannot let go. He has never found these to be different subjects.
He is a licensed acupuncturist in New York State, a certified death doula, and a practitioner of Taoist death medicine. His work with the dying and with those preparing for death has not redirected his practice — it has deepened it. He has come to understand that befriending mortality is not separate from healing. It is essential to it. In every case, it is where healing begins.
He sees patients in his New York City office and makes home visits throughout the city and on the East End of Long Island.
The high point of the mountain is not the destination. Learning to make the climb is.

Developed through years of sports medicine practice, this work addresses the physical architecture of tension: the holding patterns, the restrictions, the places where the body has braced against something and forgotten how to let go. A frequent referral destination for massage therapists and physical therapists working with complex cases.
Most people arrive at the end of life having never practiced dying. Jeffrey works with the dying, with those preparing for death, and with anyone willing to examine their relationship to it — because that relationship quietly governs everything else. The willingness to let go, practiced in small ways across a lifetime, is what makes the larger letting go possible.
He brings acupuncture, Taoist death medicine, and death doula accompaniment into a single integrated practice. He comes to you. The body gets tended. The room changes.
This is not crisis management. It is companionship at the gate — and preparation for it, long before you arrive.
